Removing Virus From System Volume Information
The quickiest way to resolve this issue is to turn of the System Restore on your drives then re-run your anti-virus product. This is the method I use but it will delete your restore points.
The quickiest way to resolve this issue is to turn of the System Restore on your drives then re-run your anti-virus product. This is the method I use but it will delete your restore points.
- Right click My computer
- Select properties
- Select the System Restore tab
- Select Turn off System Restore
THIS WILL DELETE YOUR RESTORE POINTS - Click OK
- This may take some time to complete as it is deleting your restore points.
Retain your restore points
An alternative method that will retain your restore points I have have seen mentioned is switching to safe mode and deleting the inividual files.- Note the name of the offending file(s)
- Restart the computer in safe mode
- Open My Computer, Tools, Folder Options
- Show hidden files and folders
- Deselect hide protected operating system files
- Search for the offending file and delete it.
Not a method I have tried.
