Removing Virus From System Volume Information

Removing Virus From System Volume Information
The quickiest way to resolve this issue is to turn of the System Restore on your drives then re-run your anti-virus product. This is the method I use but it will delete your restore points.

  1. Right click My computer
  2. Select properties
  3. Select the System Restore tab
  4. Select Turn off System Restore
THIS WILL DELETE YOUR RESTORE POINTS
  5. Click OK
  6. This may take some time to complete as it is deleting your restore points.

 Retain your restore points
An alternative method that will retain your restore points I have have seen mentioned is switching to safe mode and deleting the inividual files.

  1. Note the name of the offending file(s)
  2. Restart the computer in safe mode
  3. Open My Computer, Tools, Folder Options
  4. Show hidden files and folders
  5. Deselect hide protected operating system files
  6. Search for the offending file and delete it.
Not a method I have tried.
