Windows 8 Administrative Tools on Start Screen

As a Windows 7 user switching to Windows 8 one of the first familiar things I wanted was access to the administrative tools and to place them on the Start Screen during the learning process.

  • Open the Charms menu by moving your mouse cursor to the lower left corner of the screen. I found this problematic at first so resorted to the shortcut key [Windows Key] + C to open the Charms menu.
  • Click the Setting Icon
  • Select the Tiles option
  • There is a slider to Show administrative tools move it to yes to enable feature.
  • Similarly to remove the administrative tools you would move the slider to no.

Please remember that menus in Windows 8 are context sensitive so ensure you are on the Start Screen by pressing the [Windows Key] on your keyboard or selecting the Start icon on the Charms menu

Tip:

[Windows Key] + X  will help you find a lot of familiar stuff
